Weekly update Oct. 13th, 2020…The robots that ate my life!

Hello A3 faithful,

First, I’d like to apologize for my long absence. The last few weeks have been chaotic with nary a chance to catch my breath. This missive will be a chance to bring you abreast of the current situation and future plans. 

Sadly, there won’t be a new Astray3 comic this week nor for some time yet. With the success of the Tex Talks Battletech Mackie Packs and the following march of mech commissions, many lucrative opportunities have arisen. Chief among these is creating new official Battletech artwork for Catalyst games. As one might suspect, this has destroyed the production schedule for future A3 comics. 

Don’t panic! Astray3 is not ending! Storytelling is my main passion and the reason I create artwork in the first place. However, the path forward is unclear. I’ll be reexamining the comic’s production process over the next several weeks. It is my hope that I can find a method that will enable me to return A3 to a semi-regular schedule. ( We’ll at least finish the fourth comic volume and epilogue. )

Which brings me to the fate of the Patreon page. With the lack of comic updates, the Patreon no longer serves a clear purpose. I will be shutting it down this weekend. It may return in the future in a different form. That will only be when I can make proper use of the platform and worth the monthly investment. All future A3 news will be right here on the A3 website.

Weekly update Mar. 23th, 2020 Art, Shop and Patreon stuff.

Hello everybody,

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there. I’m working from home and trying to stay as isolated as I can. But, the crummy weather here in the Ozarks is really dampening the mood. ( Ha…DAMP… ) Well, that’s a minor complaint compared to what some people are going through right now. If you have the means, I’d like to encourage you to look toward artists and small businesses that could use help right now. I personally know artists who depend on conventions to literally pay the bills. The closures of those events have left them in a terrible bind. So, please, if you can, maybe search out their etsy or other stores to purchase a little something. I’m sure it’ll give you that warm and fuzzy charitable feeling. ( A selfish reminder, there is a sale going on at the Astray3 shop. All purchases will get some nifty bonus surprises. It might be stickers! It might be prints! It might even be bonus comics! Who knows? )

Ok, I’m not done with selfish reminders. Astray3 does have a Patreon page! ( Doesn’t everybody nowadays. ) If you can throw a couple dollars toward the production of Astray3 each month it would be greatly appreciated. The Patreon page usually updates before the home page and I even write some extra bonus commentary on the comic page and art updates. Also, I drop discounts or free shipping codes there for the patrons when new products are released. Ok…I’m finished for real now.

Weekly update for Feb. 3rd, 2020. Merch and art!

The above art is a revamp of an old Procreate favorite. It’s going to be part of a small series of prints I’m making for upcoming conventions. It’s kind of tough reworking an old piece rather than creating a whole new one. Go figure…

Astray3 returns on January 20th! and some art!

Hello, Astray3 faithful!

Yes, the fourth chapter will begin soon! There is a longer post and year-end retrospective on the Patreon page if you are so inclined to read it.

Page posting will largely follow the previous chapter. The main update will post on Monday with the translation following on Saturday. ( If necessary…wink…wink. )

I have a fair number of pages prepared as an update buffer. This should provide about three months of consistent updates. However, I have an aggressive convention/event schedule planned for 2020. That means loads of crucial art time spent traveling and schilling books. I will strive for at least one page a week, but we will probably have to settle for two to three pages a month. Sigh…C’est La Vie.

No need to end on a downer though. Astray3 is back! This will be the biggest chapter yet; along with an epilogue to round out the first part of the new adventure! Be back soon with more art and comics!

Hello Astray3 readers,

It’s been a bit of a wait, but I’m back with a new update. The final big piece of art for my upcoming events is in the can. This coming week will be focused on preparing everything for printing. After that, It’ll be time to start working on revamping the website. Look for some changes here in a couple of weeks.

After the launch of the new website, work will commence on the next chapter of Astray3. I can’t say exactly when the new chapter will start posting. My current estimate is at the beginning of November. It’s a bit of a wait, however, I want the next chapter’s release to go as smoothly as possible. In the meantime, I’ll start posting page teasers and bonus art here until the official launch.

That’ll be it for now. Be back next week with an update on the new prints.

Hello readers,

Another week, another delayed update. I sincerely apologize for the utterly inconsistent pace of comic updates. Putting together the books and setting up for upcoming convention appearances have really thrown a wrench in my comic production schedule. However, I’m hopeful we can get back to semi-regular updates soon. I’ll post page 37 when it’s complete. Most likely that will be either Thursday or Friday night.
